This summer explore the three stages of Mindfulness through Mindful Art practices.

A regular meditation practice or contemplative art practice is the basis for MBAT. The course focuses on cultivating positive social and emotional health, self-management skills, gratitude and compassion. More than learning to focus attention and simply be, we look at the transformative power of contemplative art and awakened heart.

MBAT Level 1 explores the sense fields and embodied presence, focusing on Mindfulness of Body and Mindfulness of Life. Participants apply these through practices of calligraphic brush work, gentle inquiry, Miksang -photography, mindful drawing , collage, and painting. Issues explored may include conflicted emotions, pain management, addiction recovery, anxiety, stress and work place issues.. This course emphasizes Mindfulness of Body and cultivating personal presence in the counselling or coaching dynamic.

MBAT Level 2 extends the creative exploration into Mindfulness of Effort and Wisdom Mind while engaging complex issues such as trauma, grief, relationships, and death. Practices of space-awareness, authentic presence, Tonglen, and group composition will be taught. These evoke the natural expressive power of the mind and qualities of inner strength.
